I suspect the founders would also disagree with the current government view that that foreigners don't have 2nd Amendment rights and can't have guns. Elie Malkoun, 53, was arrested Sunday during a traffic stop after officials from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives found three guns in the trunk of Malkoun's car. The arrest was made by ATF special agents from the Los Angeles Field Division, El Centro field office with task force officers from the California Department of Justice. According to a court document, agents saw Malkoun purchase a Smith & Wesson handgun Sunday from two people who were selling firearms from the rear of a pick-up truck at the Crossroads of the West Gun Show in Glendale. He later left the show with a blue handgun case, the document said. Arizona Department of Public Safety officers pulled over Malkoun, who was in silver, Toyota rental car, and searched the vehicle. Authorities discovered the Smith & Wesson 9mm pistol, a Sig Sauer .45 caliber pistol, and a Colt model Mustang Pocket Light .38 caliber pistol, the document said. Malkoun was arrested and taken to the U.S. District Court in Phoenix. The investigation revealed that Malkoun came to the United States on March 13 on a 90-day tourist visa. Only U.S. citizens can legally purchase firearms in the United States, ATF Special Agent Christian Hoffman said. He drove a rental car across the Mexico border into the U.S. Saturday, the document said. Malkoun's hometown in Australia wasn't immediately available and it was unclear Tuesday whether he had legal representation. The investigation is ongoing.
