Mesa police find missing leg from fatal hit-and-run by John Genovese - Jun. 23, 2011 02:53 PM The Arizona Republic-12 News Breaking News Team Mesa police have located the severed leg of the deceased victim involved in Sunday's fatal hit-and-run collision. The leg was found on the roof of a building inside Uncle Bob's Storage, located at 545 W. Broadway Road in Mesa. Police say the building is about 160 feet from where the hit-and-run occurred, and investigators believe the impact from the collision may have projected the leg onto the roof. Police located the suspected vehicle on Monday but returned to the scene of the collision when no evidence of the leg was found in the car. Police said the suspect, identified as 26-year-old Jose Padilla-Rodriguez, admitted that he was the driver of the car. Padilla-Rodriguez was arrested Monday on suspicion of two counts of failing to stop, and two counts of failing to remain at the scene of a fatal collision. |
